The Origins of Yoga: A Journey Through Time
Yoga, a practice embraced worldwide for its physical, mental, and spiritual benefits, has roots that trace back thousands of years to ancient India. It originated as a spiritual discipline, first mentioned in sacred texts known as the Vedas, which date back over 5,000 years. These texts laid the foundation for yoga as a means of connecting the mind, body, and soul with the universe.
The practice evolved over centuries, with significant contributions from the Upanishads and later the Yoga Sutras by sage Patanjali, who systemized yoga into an eight-limbed path. This path outlined principles for ethical living, meditation, and physical postures (asanas) to achieve enlightenment and inner peace.
